If you have been thinking about giving your home an eco-friendly edge but don’t know where to start, now is the time. Today, in honor of Earth Day...we're sharing our favorite tips and tools to lessen our environmental footprint, starting in your home.
The volume and speed in which we buy things these days (especially during quarantine) is ever increasing. And, its this ease of consumption thats causing us to purchase so much faster than we purge. The manner in which we organize and store all these items, can have a major impact on our living space and on our overall carbon footprint.
Establishing an eco-friendly home organization system can help you slow down your buying, save money and curb all that unnecessary clutter. Paring down your 'stuff' will not only help you streamline the organization process but also prevent you from buying things you truly don't need.
But where to start? Begin with the purging process: focus on getting rid of anything you don't love or use on a regular basis. This will help you determine what is essential and what is excess. Before starting your decluttering project I recommend setting up bags or boxes and label them...Trash, Donate, Recycle, Sell and Move to Another Location. This will make it easier to move the clutter out of your home faster, easier and with more intention. In addition to all these decluttering tips, here are some of my favorite eco friendly organization and household supplies that will not only look chic but will help lessen your environmental footprint. And remember to shop local during these hard times, like my favorite local eco friendly shop, The Waste Less Shop in Manhattan Beach.
Happy Earth Day and Happy Organizing!
